Covid Vaccination update - January 2021
We would like to reassure our patients that despite the misleading and negative media coverage over the past few days that our patients are in the process of being vaccinated. Although the location of the designated vaccination site is not convenient at present, please be assured that our vaccination programme has not been delayed and that our area falls under WAVE 6 which commenced on 11th January 2021.
Vaccines are given based on priority cohorts defined by the JCVI and, of course, on vaccine availability.
We are pleased to confirm the 1st cohort of patients and staff in the nursing homes and care homes within the Weald area have been vaccinated.
The 2nd cohort of patients over the age of 80 has commenced on the 15th of January. There are currently 2 types of vaccines being provided, and the designated vaccination site will be determined on the make of vaccine.
NHS England, The Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group and our practice will be monitoring the roll out programme closely and there may be further sites identified where any gaps exist. This means that there may well be other service providers, pharmacies and possibly GP surgeries that may be offered further contracts. However this will be determined by NHS England.
The vaccination programme for the Weald has only just started, and we can confirm that The Ridge Primary Care Network are already providing a successful roll out with their own cohorts, and that we have every faith that we will have a successful vaccination programme provided to our patients in the Weald.
Once we have further information relating to the cohorts and clinics we will update our website accordingly.
We thank you for your support and ask for your understanding and patience.
